What is SAT?

Scholastic Assessment Test – SAT is a standard exam that is conducted for students willing to seek admission to colleges and universities across the world, especially in the United States of America and Canada. The SAT exam screens the applicant on various measures such as reading skills, writing skill, and mathematical skill which is required for academic excellence.

SAT General test: SAT general test is for students who are willing to seek admission to undergraduate courses.

  • The SAT exam is conducted five-six times a year.
  • SAT scores are valid for up to 5 years.
  • SAT exams don’t have negative markings.

Exam Pattern/Sections

1. Reading

Question: 52

Duration: 65 minutes

SAT’s reading section consists of questions based on the given paragraphs, it analyses applicant’s ability to understand the language.

2. Writing and Language

Question: 44

Duration: 35 minutes

The writing section analyses the writing skills in the form of 6-9 sets of questions which are in the multiple-choice format.

3. Mathematics

Question: 58

Duration: 80 minutes

The mathematics section covers various topics such as Problem Solving, Algebra and its functions, and advanced Mathematics.

Essay Writing (Optional)

Question: 1

Duration: 50 minutes

The section evaluates the applicant’s idea of expression in the form of an Essay.
